Job Summary

Position Summary:

The Director of Dining Technology Services provides strategic and operational leadership for all technology systems supporting Michigan Dining, including point-of-sale, meal plan, menu management, and related applications.

You will partner with Dining leadership, Student Life Technology Solutions, and campus stakeholders. You will assess our needs, implement innovative technology solutions, ensure system security and data integrity, and drive adoption and training across the organization. You will oversee administrative operations related to meal plans, stored-value programs, reporting, and customer support while ensuring accurate system functionality and communication. In addition, you will lead procurement and contract-related system coordination, supports food and operational compliance efforts, and serves as an important liaison between Michigan Dining and University departments. All to advance strategic initiatives and operational excellence.

Responsibilities*

  • Lead the strategy, implementation, and ongoing support of Michigan Dining's technology systems, including point-of-sale, meal plan, menu management, and related applications.
  • Partner with dining leaders and campus stakeholders to identify our needs and develop technology solutions that improve operations and the customer experience.
  • Oversee system implementations, upgrades, pilots, and enhancements, driving adoption, training, and change management across the organization.
  • Ensure the accuracy, security, and integrity of dining systems, including user access, reporting, and data management practices.
  • Supervise and develop staff responsible for dining systems, meal plan administration, and related administrative operations. Some of these individuals may have responsibilities outside of your scope.
  • Direct the administration of residential meal plans, Blue Bucks, and stored-value programs, including oversight of customer support and escalated concerns.
  • Analyze operational data and provide reports and recommendations that support informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with Student Life Technology Solutions and other university partners to align technology initiatives with Michigan Dining's strategic priorities.
  • Manage relationships with vendors and support procurement and contract activities related to dining technology and operational systems.
  • Be a member of the Michigan Dining leadership team, representing the department on university committees and cross-functional initiatives.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality management, information systems, business administration, nutrition, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7 or more years of experience supporting technology systems within a high-volume food service, hospitality, retail, healthcare, higher education, or similarly complex operational environment.
  • Demonstrated experience administering and supporting enterprise business systems such as point-of-sale, meal plan, menu management, inventory, ERP, or other operational applications.
  • Experience supervising professional or student staff
  • Experience developing reports, analyzing operational data, and using information to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships, contracts, procurements, or service agreements related to technology systems.
